What's Inside

Every Protection Your Family Needs. Nothing More.

Bank-Grade Security

Your documents are encrypted and stored with the same discipline as the most sensitive financial records. Your family's privacy is never for sale.

Estate Readiness Score

Know exactly how prepared your family is — and precisely what gaps remain. No guessing, no surprises when it matters most.

Legacy Letters

Write a letter for someone you love — sealed and waiting until the time is right. When the people who matter most agree the moment has come, it opens. It's not a timer. It's trust. Pair it with a Legacy Video so your family hears your voice, not just reads your words.

Invitation-Only Access

Your vault is completely private — no one can find or request access. You invite each person by name, assign their role, and control exactly what they can see. Always.

Possession Inventory

Catalog your valuables, family treasures, and meaningful possessions — with photos — so your family knows exactly what you have and what it meant to you.

Funeral & Final Wishes

Document your preferences for services, burial, and final arrangements. Give your family clarity and confidence when they need it most — and can afford it least.

Vital Documents

Store your will, insurance policies, birth certificates, titles, and every document your family will need — organized, labeled, and ready when the moment comes.

Important Accounts

Document your bank accounts, investment accounts, and insurance policies so nothing is overlooked or left for your family to piece together alone. Sensitive details — account numbers and credentials — are protected from Witnesses by default. Your family can access them only when the moment truly calls for it, through a simple family vote.

Family Messaging

Stay connected with the people in your vault through private, secure in-app messaging — visible only to vault members. Or send one email to your entire family in a single click — everyone in the same thread, Reply All enabled, delivered straight to their inbox.

Legacy Video Messages

Record a video message for your family — your face, your voice, your words. Upload directly from your phone or computer. Seal it and let your family decide when the moment is right to watch it together. Up to 5 GB of video storage included.

How It Works

Three Steps to a Family
That's Truly Ready.

1

Gather Your Documents

Upload your will, insurance policies, final wishes, account information, and any document your family will need. Cedar Vault guides you through what to include — nothing slips through the cracks.

2

Know Where You Stand

Your Estate Readiness Score tells you exactly how prepared your family is — and what gaps remain. Check it anytime. Update it as life changes.

3

Leave Something That Lasts

Write a sealed Legacy Letter for each person you love. Record a video message — your face, your voice, your words. Invite the people who belong in your vault. Nothing left to chance. Nothing left unsaid.

Built for Real Families

One Login.
Every Relationship.

Life is rarely simple. You might be protecting your own family's future while helping manage a parent's affairs — or serving as a trusted witness for a sibling. Cedar Vault understands the difference.

Your Vaults shows every vault you belong to, with your role clearly displayed for each one. Switch between them instantly. One account, every relationship, all in one place.

"Your Vaults records your relationships and helps you navigate them accordingly."

Every vault you belong to — beyond your own — began with a personal invitation. Cedar Vault has no directory, no search bar, no way to request access to someone else's vault. If you're in it, someone who trusts you put you there.

Our Story

Built by Someone
Living the Problem.

"I need this product even if nobody else does."

Several people I love are getting to that season of life where the important things should be written down — and most of them aren't. No one knows where the important documents are — the accounts, the wishes, the things that matter most. When the time comes, someone will be left to piece it all together. That someone is probably me.

I have nearly forty years in software. I know how to build things. So I built Cedar Vault — not because a market study said there was an opportunity, but because I'm living the cost of not having it right now, in real time, with people I love.

Cedar Vault is built on a conviction rooted in my Christian faith: that caring for the people we love is a responsibility, not just a sentiment. The most practical act of love you can give your family is making sure they aren't left searching for answers during the hardest days of their lives.

That's what this is. Not a product looking for a problem. A solution built by someone already inside one.

Questions

Things Families Ask Before They Start.

Is my information really private?

Yes. Your vault is completely private — it cannot be found, searched, or accessed by anyone unless you personally send them an invitation. We do not sell your data, run ads, or share your information with third parties for any marketing purpose.

What happens if I forget my password?

You can reset your password at any time using your registered email address. Cedar Vault also requires two-factor authentication (2FA) on every account for an added layer of protection.

Who can see what's in my vault?

Only the people you personally invite. You assign each person a role — Owner, Spouse, Witness, or Advisor — and their permissions are set accordingly. You can remove access at any time.

What happens when my trial ends?

When your 14-day trial ends, your vault moves to read-only mode — you can still view and download everything, you just can't add new content. Your data is never deleted when a trial ends. Subscribe when you're ready.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel your subscription from your account settings at any time. Your vault stays accessible through the end of your billing period, then moves to read-only. No penalty, no runaround.

Is Cedar Vault a replacement for a will or attorney?

No — and we're upfront about that. Cedar Vault is where you store, organize, and share the documents your attorney and family will need. We strongly encourage working with a qualified estate planning attorney. Cedar Vault makes sure all that work isn't lost when it matters most.

What if something happens to Cedar Vault?

You can download a complete ZIP archive of your vault — all your documents and a summary — at any time from your account settings. Your family's information is never held hostage.

Where is my data stored?

All data is stored on Microsoft Azure infrastructure in United States data centers, encrypted in transit and at rest. Cedar Vault is built, owned, and operated in Knoxville, Tennessee.

How do sealed Legacy Letters work?

When you write a Legacy Letter and seal it, it waits — hidden from everyone until the right moment. The family members in your vault can each cast a vote. When enough of them agree the time has come, the letter opens and they can read it together. You can also unseal your own letter yourself at any time. It's not a timer or a password. It's the people you trust most, deciding together when the moment is right.

How do Legacy Video Messages work?

Upload a video message directly from your phone or computer — your face, your voice, your words, exactly as you left them. Videos are stored privately in your vault. When you're ready, seal it the same way you would a letter: your family votes together to open it when the time comes. Or leave it unsealed so your family can watch it now. MP4, MOV, and WebM supported — up to 1 GB per video, 5 GB total included with your subscription.

How do I invite someone to my vault?

From inside your vault, go to Members and send an invitation by email. You choose their role — Spouse, Witness, or Advisor — and a personal invitation goes directly to them. They'll create a Cedar Vault account if they don't already have one, and their profile will be pre-filled from what they've already shared — so they're ready immediately. You can change roles or remove access at any time. Your vault, your rules.

Can Witnesses see my account numbers and passwords?

No — not by default. Sensitive fields like account numbers and credentials are locked from Witnesses unless you choose to unlock them. Witnesses can see that accounts exist, so they know what to look for when the time comes — but the details stay protected until you decide otherwise, or until your family votes together to grant access in an emergency.

Start Protecting What
Matters Most.

It takes less than ten minutes to give your family the clarity and protection they deserve. The hardest part is deciding to begin.
