By creating an account or using Cedar Vault, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Cedar Vault is operated by Heirloom Vault Ventures LLC, a Tennessee limited liability company ("we," "us," or "our"). When we say "Cedar Vault," "the service," or "the platform," we mean the web application available at cedarvault.app and the marketing site at cedarvault.com.
Cedar Vault is a secure, subscription-based platform that allows you to store, organize, and share important family documents and information — including wills, final wishes, legal documents, passwords, personal records, and messages to loved ones. You control who can access your vault and in what capacity.
To use Cedar Vault, you must create an account with a valid email address and set up two-factor authentication (2FA). You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. Do not share your password with anyone.
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. By registering, you represent that the information you provide is accurate and that you have the legal authority to agree to these Terms.
You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. If you believe your account has been compromised, contact us immediately at support@cedarvault.com.
Cedar Vault offers the following plans:
All payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your payment card information. By subscribing, you authorize us to charge your payment method on a recurring basis until you cancel.
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the billing portal in your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you will not receive a prorated refund for unused time.
When your free trial ends or your subscription lapses, your vault enters read-only mode. You can still view and download everything in your vault — you simply cannot add or edit content until your subscription is renewed.
Your data is not deleted when a trial or subscription expires. We will send you reminder emails before taking any further action. If you choose not to renew, you may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time.
You own everything you store in Cedar Vault. We do not claim any rights to your documents, notes, or other content. By storing content on our platform, you grant us only the limited right to store, process, and display it as necessary to provide the service to you.
You are solely responsible for the content you store. You agree not to store content that:
We reserve the right to remove content or suspend accounts that violate these Terms.
You may invite other people to access your vault in specific roles. Each role carries defined permissions:
You are responsible for managing who has access to your vault. We are not responsible for any consequences arising from access you grant to others.
Your privacy is important to us. Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information. By using Cedar Vault, you agree to our Privacy Policy.
We work hard to keep Cedar Vault available and reliable. However, we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or experience outages beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of planned downtime.
Cedar Vault is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be error-free, secure, or available at all times.
Cedar Vault is a document storage and organization tool. It is not a substitute for legal advice. We strongly encourage you to work with a qualified attorney for estate planning, will preparation, and other legal matters.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Heirloom Vault Ventures LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of Cedar Vault — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of access, or loss of revenue — even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of Cedar Vault shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
You may close your account at any time by contacting us at support@cedarvault.com. Upon account closure, your data will be deleted within 30 days.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, with or without prior notice depending on the severity of the violation. If we terminate your account without cause, we will refund any prepaid subscription fees for the unused period.
We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and notify all registered users by email. Your continued use of Cedar Vault after any change constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
If a change materially affects your rights, we will provide at least 30 days' notice before the change takes effect.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Tennessee, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts located in Knox County, Tennessee.
